This Little Light of Mine

Recently a high school in the United States was told that they had to remove a picture of Jesus from the hallway.  The picture had been hanging there for 60 years and many people in the community were upset that it had to be removed.  Stories like this are becoming more common in our country.  However, we as Christians have more power inside us to proclaim Christ than a picture hanging on a wall.

Jesus said in Matthew 5:16 “Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”   With all of the controversy over marriage today it is imperative that Christian couples exhibit their faith in their marriages every day.  As Christians we are different from the world and when people see this difference in our lives they will be curious, and it will open up the opportunity for us to share Christ with them.

So how do Christian couples exemplify Jesus to the world?

1.  Have a personal relationship with Jesus.  (See “Read This First” under “Important Information” on the Homepage of www.happytogethermarriage.com.)

2.  Treat each other with love and respect.

3.  Be faithful to each other with your actions and your eyes.

4.  Develop a friendship with each other.

5.  Encourage each other and complement each other

6.  Refrain from complaining about your spouse to others.

7.  Learn to persevere through hard times.

8.  Be kind to others and help those in need.

9.  Discipline your children with love

10.  Regularly attend church together.

Living out our faith in public will have more of an impact on others than Christian symbols and pictures displayed in public places.  The government may make us remove pictures and symbols of Christianity from public places, but no one can prevent us from being “Jesus” to everyone around us.
